Ortho Aqua Plus Lase (15 W/1470nm + 650 nm)

High-Absorption Laser Technology for Orthopedic Care

Aqua Lase is engineered with 1470 nm high-absorption laser technology, enabling precise interaction with water-rich orthopedic tissues while minimizing thermal spread to surrounding structures. This targeted energy delivery allows accurate tissue vaporization and effective coagulation, helping reduce intra-operative bleeding and post-procedure inflammation. With a powerful 15 W output, Aqua Lase supports minimally invasive orthopedic procedures that result in less pain, faster healing, and improved functional recovery. The controlled laser performance enhances surgical precision while promoting safer outcomes—making it an ideal solution for modern orthopedic care.

Relevance of PLDD Therapy

Percutaneous laser disk decompression (PLDD) is known to be the “minimally invasive” treatment modality for contained lumbar disk herniation. It is well acknowledged in Orthopedic treatments.
PLDD is proven to be safe and effective. Apart from being minimally invasive, it is performed in an outpatient setting, requires no general anesthesia, results in no scarring or spinal instability and certainly reduces rehabilitation time.
As per the orthopedic experts, the treatment is performed percutaneously, so morbidity is expected to be lower and the convalescence period is postulated to be shorter than for conventional surgery. It can be considered a suitable choice in treating patients with chronic low back pain caused by a disc protrusion.
Surgeons are using effectively in case of Cervical problems where one or more cervical disc herniation is found. It is used for Neck pain, shoulder pain, bilateral and numbness.

Why Laser PLDD Treatment

The use of Laser is contributing to Spine Surgery Procedures and creating a significant impact on treatment. Especially when we mention PLDD which is a minimally-invasive medical procedure that uses a laser beam to treat back and neck pain.
Unlike the other types of back surgery, it may only be useful for conditions, such as when nerve compression is causing pain. The use of laser is increasing rapidly in spine surgery because of its unique benefits like being highly precise, bloodless treatment, dependence on local anesthesia, and minimally invasive procedures.
IMDSL is proud to launch the most suitable laser option for PLDD. A diode laser with the wavelength of 1470 nm makes it suitable for spine surgery procedures accompanied by the fiber spool system and all useful attachments.

Aqua Lase - PLDD and beyond

Recently IMDSL has introduced 1470nm wavelength in 15 watt Diode laser. Here are few benefits to note-

  • Higher absorption in water (superficial cutting)
  • Surgery can be performed at lower wattage, less energy required (less collateral tissue damage).
  • Increasing laser safety with minimal post- operative complication.
  • Patient with most comfort & faster recovery.

By going through various research papers and medical studies that is been done over past 5 years of time, 1470nm wavelength can be utilized in various branches including Orthopedic like

  1. PLDD (Per cutaneous disc decompression)
  2. Discogenic spinal stenosis
  3. Discogenic pain syndrome
  4. Medial branch neurotomy for facet joints
  5. Lateral branch neurotomy for sacroiliac joints

Minimal Invasive surgery and minimum scar formation and faster healing with minimum pain is what patients are looking forward to in this fast moving world.

Specifications & Treatment Procedure

  • Based on Diode Laser’s excellent absorption properties of the 1470 nm wavelengths interacting with water , as well as its moderate penetration depth into the disc tissue, the PLDD is designed to deliver energy to the disc through a thin optical fiber, ablating the relatively small inner core resulting in a reduction in the intervertebral disc pressure.
  • This led to a decrease in herniated discs, Unlike open lumbar disc surgery, back muscles are not damaged, large skin incisions are not made, and bone is not removed.
  • Diode Laser technology for PLDD is currently the safest and most effective solution because only a small amount of disc vaporization and no subsequent spinal instability occurs.
